The Society represents approximately 800 Notaries practising in England and Wales. It was founded in 1882 and the Coat of Arms which appears in the pages of this website is that of The Notaries Society.
The Society has an extensive role in representing Notaries and participates in their education and continuing professional development as well as representing the profession abroad. It also reviews new legislation which may have an impact on the profession.
The Society is run by its Council which comprises up to 15 members headed by its President. I have represented the Society for many years at international meetings and have led numerous projects and initiatives including one to introduce digital methods of working and to bring the profession to the attention of university students as an alternative career in the law.
